LogScore Manual

Troubleshooting

Fix PDF imports, missing annotation layers, Apple Pencil issues, face gestures, Bluetooth pedals, metronome audio, recordings, storage, and iCloud sync.

Applies to LogScore 1.0.4 for iPhone and iPad.Last reviewed August 5, 2026

A PDF will not import or open

  1. Open the source PDF in Files to confirm it is valid.
  2. Check that it is not password-protected.
  3. Wait for any iCloud or file-provider download to finish.
  4. Confirm that there is sufficient device storage.
  5. Import the file again.

For URL import, use a public direct .pdf address. Login pages and ordinary sharing pages are not direct PDF links.

The annotation toolbar is missing

Tap the score once. If the clean viewer remains, confirm that the score file is a PDF and reopen it from Scores. On a narrow iPhone toolbar, swipe horizontally to reach additional tools.

Apple Pencil or drawing does not work

  • Select Pen, Pencil, Highlighter, Eraser, Symbol, or Text so a tool is active.
  • Open Layers and make the active layer visible.
  • Close the Home, recording, or metronome panel.
  • Confirm that Apple Pencil is connected and charged.
  • If navigation gestures draw instead, deactivate the drawing tool before zooming.

Annotations appear to be gone

Open Layers and enable each eye icon. Verify the score tab and page. If the PDF pages were rearranged after annotation, page-specific content may now correspond to a different page position.

Save Failed appears

Free device storage and try a small annotation again. Avoid force-closing the app while a large annotation, image, crop, or page-rearrangement change is being saved. If the warning continues, export a backup before further edits.

Face gestures do not work

  • Confirm that the device reports Face as supported.
  • Allow camera access for LogScore.
  • Improve front lighting and make sure the full face is visible.
  • Confirm Wink or Lips is selected.
  • Return to a neutral expression between turns.
  • Adjust sensitivity.
  • Let the device cool if it is unusually warm.

AirPods page turning does not work

  • Connect compatible AirPods before opening the feature.
  • Allow Motion & Fitness access if requested.
  • Select AirPods and calibrate from the current head position.
  • Return the head to neutral between page turns.
  • Recalibrate after changing posture.

A Bluetooth pedal does not work

  • Pair it in iOS Settings, not inside LogScore.
  • Select a keyboard/HID operating mode on the pedal.
  • Enable Hands-Free Page Turn and select Pedal for the current score.
  • Disconnect it from another phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Test whether the pedal sends keys in another app.

The metronome is silent

  • Open sound settings and enable Enable Sound.
  • Raise Volume and check the device output level.
  • Confirm that no beat in the bar is unintentionally set to silent.
  • Check the current Bluetooth or AirPlay audio route.
  • Restart playback after a call, Siri, or another audio interruption.

Metronome settings look different

Check whether the metronome was opened from a different score, a Today track, or a saved session. Score-linked settings are intentionally independent. Load the intended item from the metronome library.

Recording will not start

Allow microphone access, free storage, and stop other apps using audio. If an external audio device was disconnected, close and reopen the panel so iOS can establish a stable route.

A recording is missing

Recordings shorter than about two seconds are discarded. Open All Recordings and look under the current score or Deleted Score. If the file is still downloading from iCloud, leave LogScore open on a stable network.

Practice totals or streaks are unexpected

Remember that the LogScore practice day starts at 4:00 a.m. Review date details for edited or duplicate sessions. Deleting or shortening a session changes totals and may change a streak.

iCloud data is missing on another device

  1. Confirm the same Apple Account.
  2. Confirm iCloud Drive and LogScore access.
  3. Update LogScore on both devices.
  4. Open Settings and read the sync phase.
  5. Keep both devices online and the app open.
  6. Select Sync Now after noting any diagnostic code.
  7. Do not delete duplicates until sync completes and a backup exists.

The app cannot open its data

If LogScore displays Can’t Open Your Data, do not repeatedly import or delete files. Close the app completely and reopen it after a moment. If the message identifies insufficient storage, free space first. Use Show Diagnostic Info and copy the domain and code when contacting support.
