Personal backup and restore
Protect a private backup that can include originals, then review it before restoring.
Steps
- Open Settings & my data, then choose Create encrypted backup.
- Enter and repeat a strong password. Store it separately; no server can recover it.
- Keep the app open while files are checked, archived, encrypted, and saved. Select an external destination only when the system share sheet opens.
- To restore, choose Restore a backup, select the `.rehearsebackup` file, and enter its password.
- Review project, practice, and media counts. Choose Merge to keep current data, or Replace only after reading the rollback warning.
What to expect
Merge adds non-conflicting content. Replace uses the backup as the active library and keeps a local rollback copy. The device PIN and store purchase rights do not come from the backup.
If it does not work
- A wrong password, damaged file, checksum mismatch, ID conflict, insufficient space, or interrupted operation stops without silently overwriting current data.
- If cleanup or final save is pending, keep the app open or follow the shown restart instructions before treating restore as complete.
- The private archive ceiling is 1 GiB, up to 1,000 file references and 10,000 records. Split a larger backup; content is not truncated.
Keep in mind
A personal backup may contain private originals, notes, and progress. It is not a public practice file. Operating-system backup is a separate device feature, not OnceBefore cloud sync.
